Single Focus: Part II

Pastor Grant talked about three areas our church must be courageous if we are going to fulfill the Great Commission.  We must be courageous in doing ongoing and honest evaluations of all parts of our church, in meeting needs, and in bolding speaking the truth about Jesus Christ.

1.  What are some ways I can help our church stay courageous in these areas?

2. The area(s) that I am going to need courage in are...

1. What are some ways I can help our church stay courageous in these areas? I am committed to the corporate prayer time on Wednesday night. I believe that when we, as a body of believers, seek God, He will begin to show us ways to reach our community for Him, and that He will empower us by His Holy Spirit to do all that God has asked us to do. I am excited to see all that God is going to do as a result of this prayer time.

2. The areas that I am going to need courage in are . . . God has opened doors recently for me to share my faith with my family, but it is still really difficult for me to do. I also find it really hard to share my faith with strangers. I usually wait for them to provide me with an opportunity before I say anything. Many times I feel like I have missed "God" in my encounters with people. I need courage to be bold about sharing my faith. I also need to be involved in activities that include non-believers. I realized that much of my time is spent with believers.

My prayer is that God will break my heart (as His is broken) for non-believers and that He will provide me with opporunities to share my faith, and that He will give me courage to do it.

1. I'd like to think that I can help our church be courageous in all 3 of these areas. I certainly can be observant about what is happening around me, but sometimes it is difficult for me to speak the truth in love. I will work to be clear and honest in my evaluations of all parts of our church. I will speak the truth boldly about Jesus Christ as I interact in discipling opportunities, and I will actively look for ways that I can help to meet the needs of those in the body and those we seek to reach.

2. My greatest need for courage lies in boldly speaking the truth to the non-believer. I don't know why this is such a struggle for me. I guess I get too concerned about how others will react or how I will deal with the potential rejection. I don't believe in a "linebacker" approach and I know that isn't our intent (thankfully), but I want to be more confident and less self-conscious. Like Living to Worship, I have family members that need to hear and understand. May my heart and eyes be open to new opportunities.
