Yes, I do need to adjust my perspective. I confess that I am one of those who avoid God for a few days when I make a mistake. I feel guilty and try to make things right before I go back to him. This sermon has helped me realize that God loves me regardless of my faults or mistakes and that I can always go to him immediately and not wait a few days or weeks. I can be honest and open and confess all my sins, doubts and ugliness and He still loves me. I don’t have to be ashamed or fear Him or punish myself. He knows everything and is just waiting for me to come to Him.

I looked over my notes and read the passage again last night. God is so good! He always gives us a way out. I just need to spend more time meditating on His word, placing it in my heart, mind and soul. This sermon has opened my eyes and definitely my perspective. Yes, I am renewed! Thank you Lord!!!

It still amazes me that some of the biggest heroes of the Bible...Moses, David, Paul...were all murderers, yet God used them as part of the foundation of His church. A sin is a sin but let's face it few of us blogging on this site are "murderers." Our sins don't make us unacceptable in His sight. That should be so easy to understand when viewing the "stars" of the Bible but it's still hard to believe that He loves me inspite of my petty, daily, repeated sins...and a few big ones I'm not too proud of. Yet the Bible assures us of that acceptance. That's not to say we should take the view that I'm better than he is since my sins aren't that bad. It means God treasures a relationship with us all. He wants that intimacy and what relationship works if we fail to be open and intimate...if we fail to be real. If you don't open up to people it's hard to have a serious friendship. That seems true with God. He's knocking. We only need to open the door.

This is an interesting question. What stood out to me is '...your perpective of God determines your relationship with Him..." NOT His perspective of ME determines His relationship with ME! This made me realize that His relationship with me is permenant and everlasting and undonditional. Question: Is my relationship with God permenant and everlasting and unconditional? It's the word unconditional that keeps nagging at me. Haven't we all made promises to God something to the effect that if I do this for you God will you do this for me? So my answer is YES I need to adjust my perspective to one more unconditional.

Without doubt, it is "The consequences of sin need not rob me of my intimacy with God". I need to trust in Him in ALL things - Proverbs 3:5-6 is on my heart. 1. I know that my perspective of God is often way off base. I try to box God into what I know and understand. I often make God too human and see Him like I see other people. I know that others evaluate me on my performance and my behavior, so I mistakenly box God into this mold. I know better, but it’s so easy to fall into those old traps. How thankful I am that He is so much bigger than I often allow Him to be, and I’m thankful that sermons like the one last Sunday can once again speak to my heart and call me to a more appropriate perspective. I want to see and experience God as the great God He is, all powerful and all knowing, yet concerned about me. With a distorted view my intimacy with Him will be lacking. So I intend to remind myself daily that my perspective needs to be more accurate, and as I communicate daily with Him and read and study the Word, I hope to develop a deeper relationship with the lover of my soul.

2.I need to trust God more and rely on my feelings less. I could so identify with the illustration of the wagon. If I have enough “good” in my wagon, then I feel good and surely God is pleased with me. When I’ve blown it, I’m usually quick to confess, but slow to forgive myself and trust that God has really forgiven me. I needed that reminder that God is the Redeemer and Forgiver of past, present and future. I am His. I have yielded my heart and I need to trust in His grace and mercy.

I, like several of the people above, have many times had a "performance" perspective of God. In fact, it is my default mode. I really have to fight against thinking that my relationship with God is solely based on my good deeds and bad deeds. One of the biggest ways that I keep a true perspective of God is to periodically examine the way I’m interacting with God.
